There&#8217;s a clear standard of professionalism that, the truth be known, all bakers subscribe to whether they admit it or not. The individual features of the code aren&#8217;t really important; however, in scheduling a manicure today&#8230; <em>today<\/em> being two days into a two-week winter break at <a title=\"Oregon Culinary Institute\" href=\"http:\/\/www.oregonculinaryinstitute.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OCI<\/a>&#8230; I humored myself at the thought that a specter of my past was once again a possibility, if only for the duration of the vaca: a French manicure <em>with<\/em> polish.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/onpleasurefulpastry.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/12\/img_6331.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-416\" src=\"https:\/\/onpleasurefulpastry.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/12\/img_6331.jpg?w=200\" alt=\"IMG_6331\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/onpleasurefulpastry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/img_6331.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/onpleasurefulpastry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/img_6331-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/onpleasurefulpastry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/img_6331-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/onpleasurefulpastry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/img_6331-768x1152.jpg 768w, https:\/\/onpleasurefulpastry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/img_6331-1024x1536.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a>I guess there&#8217;s other humor in baking. Naively assuming one has the physical stamina to haul 50-pound bags of flour. Acknowledging that the product the baker is producing has virtually no shelf life. And, oh, yes, remembering that offering fresh bread at retail each morning requires getting up in the middle of the night. Only bakers can see humor in these things.
